Life & Liberty at
Lake Liz
A Book About All of Us
I hope to produce a book about local people who come to Central Park on a daily basis to
exercise, socialize and enjoy the park. The book’s title is
Life & Liberty at Lake
Liz.
Central Park is our meeting
place, where we connect with others and disconnect from our busy lives. It
provides us a commonality of spirit.
Why?
Fremont’s story is really the life
stories of all who live here. Fremont’s story is America’s story of migration
and immigration. Our city is a microcosm of our country’s continuing evolution.
Fremont is a city of the world.

When will the book be published?
I am in the process of finding a
publisher. Lake Elizabeth celebrates its 40th anniversary in March
2009. I would like to have the book in distribution for the anniversary.
Will every personal story be included
in the book?
Unfortunately, no. I hope to collect
several hundred stories from which I will make the final selection for
inclusion.
Will I be paid for my story?
No monetary compensation will be made
for submission or use of your story.
What’s Doug's story?
My name is Doug Tinney. I have lived in
Fremont for 35 years. I was born in New Jersey and grew up in the Pocono
Mountains of Pennsylvania. I served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. My
wife and I lived in South Carolina before moving to Fremont in 1972 so I could
finish college. We have three adult children. I currently work independently as
a graphic designer. One of my most proud accomplishments was serving on the
citizens committee for Fremont’s 50th Anniversary. I created the 50th
anniversary logo and conceived Hands Around the Lake, the kick-off event for Celebrate Fremont @
the Park that took place on September 9-10, 2006, in Central Park.
